National Athletic Training Month is a time to spread the word about the profession of athletic training and how it positively impacts the world.  The goal is to reach individuals and organizations that can help make a difference for athletic trainers with regards to legislation, employment and public health. During this time, Athletic Trainers across America are recognized for their commitment to helping people prevent injuries and stay healthy and active.

One way everyone in the athletic training community can promote the profession is through social media.  Wikipedia states, as of February 2012, there are over 854 million active users on Facebook. Promoting athletic training can easily become viral with that many active users.  The key is to spread the good word. Change your profile picture to the NATM logo provided by NATA.  Post positive statuses about athletic training.  Become a fan of the BOC and other athletic training related organizations on Facebook. “Like” other posts about the profession and “Share” stories with your friends.

Utilizing Twitter is another way to share with the world. When a mass amount of tweets include the same hashtag (#), the topic will be promoted to everyone in the Twitter universe. Help make athletic training a trending topic by tweeting on March 1st, 15th and 29th.  Review page 2 of the NATA PR Toolkit to find designated dates and times to tweet about athletic training.

Encourage friends, family, athletes, co-workers, students, and colleagues to participate.  Everyone can help to spread the word by emailing, posting and tweeting about athletic training.
